Terms of Service.
Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Re_Tera web platform (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
What Re_Tera Is
Re_Tera helps homeowners and renters document household belongings, analyze insurance policies, and prepare for insurance claims through AI-powered tools.
What Re_Tera Is NOT
Re_Tera is not a licensed insurance agent, broker, carrier, law firm, public adjusting firm, or substitute for professional advice.
- AI-generated health scores are algorithmic estimates, not actuarial assessments
- Coverage gap detection is informational only and may contain errors
- Investigation conversations do not constitute professional insurance, legal, or financial advice
- Always verify findings with a licensed insurance professional before making coverage decisions

Your Data
You retain ownership of all content you upload (photos, documents, inventory data, policy documents). We use your content only to provide the Service. See our Privacy Policy for details.
AI-Powered Features
The Service uses artificial intelligence for item detection, policy investigation, coverage gap identification, and Investigation conversations. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. You are solely responsible for verifying all AI-generated information before relying on it.
Subscriptions and Payments
Free users receive a policy summary with coverage details and a limited number of AI follow-up questions, plus basic inventory storage. Tera_Plus (unlimited AI investigation, full inventory with video walkthroughs and CSV export) is available as a monthly auto-renewable subscription.
At-cost pricing. The monthly subscription is set at the average per-subscriber cost we incur to run the AI that cross-checks your policy against state insurance law. We do not mark it up. If you find the service valuable, you may optionally leave a one-time tip of any amount (subject to a minimum and a maximum) on the Account page. Tips are voluntary, do not affect your subscription status, and are non-refundable except as required by law.
- Web: Billed through Stripe. Manage or cancel through Account.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- No refunds for partial billing periods, except as required by law.
Financial Account Linking (Auto-Declare)
Re_Tera offers an optional Auto-Declare feature that connects to your bank or credit card account through Plaid, a third-party financial data processor. Linking a financial account is entirely opt-in, is off by default, and is available only to active Tera_Plus subscribers. Nothing in these Terms requires you to connect a financial account.
Re_Tera is not a bank, financial institution, or financial adviser. Auto-Declare is an informational tool only.
- Auto-Declare does not constitute insurance, legal, or financial advice of any kind.
- A flagged purchase amount is observed from transaction metadata and is not a guarantee of coverage, an appraisal, or a representation of insured value.
- Always verify potential coverage shortfalls with a licensed insurance professional before making coverage decisions.
What Plaid receives and what Re_Tera receives. When you initiate Plaid Link, you interact directly with Plaid's interface and consent flow. Plaid acts as the financial-data processor for this feature. Re_Tera receives only transaction metadata from Plaid: the transaction amount, merchant name, posting date, and Plaid-assigned category. Re_Tera never receives, stores, or processes your bank credentials, account numbers, balances, account statements, or full transaction history beyond the metadata described above.
How Re_Tera uses this data. Transaction metadata received via Plaid is used solely to identify purchases whose value may approach or exceed a coverage sublimit in your filed policy, and to prompt you to add or update an Inventory item for that purchase. Re_Tera does not sell, share, license, or reuse this financial data for any other purpose, consistent with our obligations under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and our Privacy Policy.
Plaid's own terms.Your use of Plaid's services is governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which you accept when you complete the Plaid Link flow. Re_Tera is not responsible for Plaid's data practices. You should review Plaid's policies at plaid.com/legal before connecting an account.
Disconnecting Plaid access. You may unlink your financial account at any time from your Account settings. Unlinking removes Re_Tera's access token and stops all future transaction data retrieval. Deleting your Re_Tera account triggers the same removal. Within 30 days of unlinking or account deletion, Re_Tera will purge the linked-account record and any derived Auto-Declare records associated with it. Purging does not affect Inventory items you have already saved independently of Auto-Declare suggestions.
Security. Financial-account link tokens are stored encrypted at rest and are never logged or exposed to client-side code. For a full description of our security practices, see our Security page.
Limitation of liability for financial data processing. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Re_Tera is not liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from errors or omissions in transaction data received from Plaid, missed purchase alerts, inaccurate category assignments, or any coverage gap that results from reliance on Auto-Declare suggestions. The general liability cap in the Limitation of Liability section below applies to all claims arising from the Auto-Declare feature.
Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for: indirect, incidental, or consequential damages; errors in AI-generated content; insurance claim denials; or losses from reliance on the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.
Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through Account. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or abuse of the Service.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration (JAMS rules) in California. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days by emailing legal@getretera.com.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification.
